Sorry kids, but this had to be reposted with a bit of insight of my own at the end.
THE FINAL INSPECTION
The soldier stood and faced God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining,
just as brightly as his brass. "Step forward now, you soldier, How shall I deal with you? Have you
always turned the other cheek? To My Church have you been true?" The soldier squared his shoulders and said, "no, Lord, I guess I ain't. Because those of us who carry guns, can't always be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was tough. And sometimes I've been violent, because the world is awfully rough. But, I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep... Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got just too steep. And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God, forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place, among the people here. They never wanted me around, except to calm their fears. If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand." There was a silence all around the throne, where the saints had often trod. As the soldier waited quietly, for the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, you soldier, you've borne your burdens well.Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets, you've done your time in Hell.
"Author Unknown"
Try never to forget, it is your military force, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It is your military force, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is your military force, not the protesters and demonstrators that gave us the freedoms to protest and demonstrate. It is your military force, not the politicians that ensures our right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." It is your military force who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the radicals to burn the flag. If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for your military force, please pass this on and pray for our men and women who have served and are currently serving our country and pray for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.
As I sat here reading this post silently from a request of someone on here, I sat here crying thinking
of everything that has been sacrificed for the greater good of people in this country. If ya think this
makes me sound weak, you can go fuck yourself. Far too often people take things for granted. Some of you talk about your freedoms, yet take for granted the fact that there are men and women out there who are fighting for your freedoms while sacrificing some of their own freedoms in the process. Some of you talk about how patriotic you are and show off your patriotism by having your flags waving in your front yard and bumper stickers showing your support for the troops after 9-11 occured "mostly in my opinion because your neighbors have done it and you are trying to prove something to everyone that is watching." I ask you, where was that patriotism before, the military has always been present in the world, doing what is needing to be done yet had been taken for granted before then. You speak of your support for the troops yet despise actions that are taken by the them because you feel it is unnecessary and does not accomplish anything relevant. You speak out against the military and protest its policies by stating "War is not the answer," yet you stand by idlly and fail to come up with solutions to the worlds problems and conflicts. You take for granted all of your freedoms and the people who stand over you and tell you, "Don't worry, nothing will happen to you while I am here. Not on my watch." You take for granted freedom to go about your daily lives, because you have the peace of mind that nothing will happen to you due to the actions of others who are willing to risk their own lives. You take for granted that there are those who are willing to fight for your freedoms, for your safety, for the country in which you live. You go around oblivious to the facts of what we really are fighting for. We fight for those who want freedom, we fight for those who are either unable, or unwilling to fight for themselves because the price is too great, we fight for the men and women who fight right along side of us. We fight because there are some things that are worth fighting for, there are some things that are worth the sacrifice that is made every fucking day by the men and women of the Armed Forces. These things that are worth fighting for are our beliefs and convictions. You can sleep well in this knowledge, that there are thousands of men and women risking everything they have making sure that millions of us can go about our lives so that we can live by our
convictions and hopefully fight for our beliefs. Take that to heart.
If you end up reading this and it does not touch you in some way, then you have no fucking soul.
