As I sit here and think to myself over all of the chaos that has been going on within the past few weeks, I have been reflecting most upon something that was said to me yesterday. I was accused of being arrogant. Believe me this was not only directed towards myself but at our nation as a whole. At first I was a bit shocked by this persons take on my state of being and the state of being of our country as a whole, but then I realized that this person's interpretation of arrogance had every negative connotation thrown at me "and us as a nation that she could." I totally forgot the big picture for one brief moment and then the truth came slamming back into place. Yes, I am arrogant and yes so is our country. But not so much as this person would like to take it as a bad thing. For instance, it takes quite a bit of arrogance to become a superpower in this world. It also takes quite a bit of arrogance to know without question that if anything should ever break out in this world that we can go handle whatever it might be. Whether the situation might be a war, or some other type of military conflict, we are ready at a moments notice to go take care of our country as well as other countries problems, without question. It is also arrogant of us to take on the task that other countries and people refuse to such as stem cell research. How fucking arrogant of us to want to play God and mess with nature. How dare we want to change the world for the better by trying to erase diseases such as cancer, AIDS, MS, or other life threatening and debilitating ailments such as these. Who are we to want to make life better for everyone? We have no fucking right!!!!!! How dare we play peacekeeper in other people's countries when atrocities are occurring every second of the day across the planet. We are very fucking arrogant to walk into someone else’s backyard and say, "OK we are here to stop all of this shit that has been going on today." Believe me, those people who back us in trying to take care of other people's situations when they are unable to take care of it themselves, we love you. Those who think we should mind our own business we usually tell to kiss our ass... "Mind you NATO is usually the group who calls us out on peacekeeping missions when requested by said countries." How dare we want to help disaster areas around the globe when it is needed? It is arrogant and wrong of us to think that we could help anyone but ourselves when the need arises, whether that be in the nature of food shipments to drought and poverty stricken areas such as Ethiopia and other parts of the globe, or if it be in the form of medical attention "The Red Cross" being sent worldwide in disease ridden areas such as Africa and India. Or if that be in the form of peacekeeping missions to make
sure that the food provided by us gets through to the people who need it most and protect them from
warlords who would starve them to death to keep them pacified in their twisted way of waging genocide to keep their rule over their country. "Mogadishu ring a bell anyone" How dare we, once a conflict has occurred in one country, want to help rebuild that country so that it can rule itself in relative peace. How arrogant is it of us to want to keep our children safe and healthy by taxing our own people in our own country to build children’s hospitals and provide services like amber alerts all over the nation so that when a child does go missing, there is more than a fighting chance that said child will be found alive and unharmed. How dare our country have a three strikes law whereby violent repeat offenders will go to prison for life without the possibility of parole. How dare we impose a tax on our own people so that people with disabilities and impoverished people in our own country might be helped out in whatever way is needed so that they can be given a fighting chance to survive, and perhaps even thrive here as well. How dare we and how arrogant of us to have the ability to speak out against or for whatever we see fit. Even if it is against our own political head of our nation. It is arrogant of us to think that we can get away with such actions. But yet we can and do every fucking second of the day. Why is this you might ask? Because we are Americans and YES we are arrogant and YES we are very proud of our arrogance. It is arrogant to want to change the world for the better. But it is also our arrogance and our determination and our negativity towards giving up fighting for things that need to be fought for that allows us to change things for the better. I am arrogant, and I am very proud of it. If someone else perceives that as ugly, then that is their hang-up and I won't be faulted for it. I am used to being perceived as someone who loves a good fight. This is true in every sense of the word. I love a good debate, and a good fight. I love to win at whatever it may be and I hate to lose. But then again. I only fight when it is something worth fighting for. Other people and other nations as people who fight for frivolous goals usually perceive us as individuals. These are only meaningless to you because you do not wish to step forward to get involved. You always think "let so and so handle it, then when we do, you fault us for it and call us arrogant."
Let me sum you up then you can call us arrogant every second of the day for the actions that we take and I will continue to thank you for it. I will call you cowards for the inaction that you take,
"You are quite welcome" I guess I am arrogant to want to change the world and fight for things that have meaning, such as change, and growth. I guess I am arrogant to want change for the better so that when I do have a child, the world will be a better place. Somewhere where they can grow up and thrive and learn and be happy. I am arrogant to want to be able to see the smile on my child’s face and be able to look at them and know that I did my best to make the world a wonderful place for them to grow up. I can look at the woman that I love and not worry about anything because I know the world is a bit safer because arrogant people are out there doing what they do to make the world a safer and better place. It is that state of grace that things are fought for. Anyone that looks into their own heart and sees that state of peace and happiness tranquility and love knows that there is usually sacrifice involved. One must weigh that sacrifice with what can be gained. I guess though love is not a good enough reason to fight for anything for some. How arrogant of me and us to want such lofty things. I once said on one of my other pages that "I do not go where the path leads. Instead I make my own, and leave a trail" And those of you who have known me longer than others of you might recognize the "Walking between the darkness and the light." I find it my responsibility not only to bring the
darkness down when needed, but also to reflect the light of my being amongst those around me and the world so it can be spread in hopes that in some small way it can change the world for all of us.
